Choose a tool geometry suitable for the operation and finished edge. The tool that clears chips fastest may not create the same top surface or edge quality as one selected for a cleaner finish.
Keep dust collection part of the setup
MDF dust can hide the cut and interfere with chip clearing. Confirm dust collection and air movement before judging a setting, because a clean test depends on a clean cutting environment.
Make a small, labeled test before a sheet run
Test on the same MDF, at the same thickness, with the same bit and hold-down method. Inspect edge fuzzing, burning, sound, and chip behavior before running production sheets.

Why does MDF fuzz on a CNC edge?
Bit condition, tool geometry, chip clearing, feed and RPM relationship, and the MDF itself can affect edge quality. Use a controlled test on the actual sheet.
Does MDF need different CNC settings from plywood?
Often, yes. Material density, glue content, face veneers, dust behavior, and desired edge quality differ, so verify on matching scrap rather than copying a plywood setting.
