Project files reopen in WoodWorkCalc. Laser exports use millimeters and already include the entered kerf compensation.

Assumptions & limits

Exports contain geometric cut paths in millimeters. Outside paths offset outward by half the measured kerf; hole paths offset inward. Do not apply kerf compensation a second time in your laser software.

Measure actual thickness and cut a fit coupon first. These files do not contain machine power, speed or motion commands.

Check tip resistance with the intended display and surface. The stand has no rated load capacity.

Understand your build

Method & worked example

Panel contours are calculated from the entered geometry and actual stock thickness. Slot dimensions include the entered fit allowance. Vector outside contours are offset outward by half the measured kerf, and internal openings inward, so additional software compensation must be disabled.

Check the numbers

A 3 mm panel with 0.1 mm fit allowance needs a nominal 3.1 mm slot. With 0.15 mm kerf, its opposing cut centerlines are 2.95 mm apart; the removed material brings the finished opening to 3.1 mm.

A vector build package, material layout and saved record of your own tested machine settings. The drawing, cut list, material plan and exports use the same entered measurements. Product geometry and purchase quantities are checked again when a project is saved.
