Woodworking, CNC & Laser Learning Paths
Choose a lesson for the task in front of you. The Academy combines written instruction, visual explanations, and linked tools so you can check what you learned against your own project.
Step 1
Start with shop fundamentals
Use Woodworking 101 to work through measuring, material selection, cutting plans, joinery, and finishing. Take one concept into a small practice exercise before applying it to a finished piece.
- Record dimensions and units consistently.
- Learn the difference between finished size, rough allowance, and cutting loss.
- Use the glossary when a term in a plan or lesson is unfamiliar.
Step 2
Choose a CNC or laser path
The Academy includes CNC setup, feeds and speeds, laser material tests, LightBurn workflows, and production costing. Use equipment and tooling documentation to choose a starting point, then record a controlled test on matching stock.
- Change one variable at a time when comparing test results.
- Keep machine, material, tool, units, and observed results together.
- Use your saved machine and bit profiles when repeating a successful setup.
Step 3
Solve a specific workshop problem
Open the troubleshooting library for issues such as tearout, burn marks, cupping, finish problems, and poor-fitting miters. Follow the diagnostic checks before changing several settings at once.
- Use Academy references for craft and process questions.
- Use the WoodWorkCalc product guide for saving results, quotes, jobs, and inventory.
- Open the related calculator when you need to quantify the next decision.
