Assumptions & limits

Layouts use a deterministic guillotine heuristic, not a guarantee of minimum stock. Shaded free rectangles exclude entered trim and kerf.

Method & worked example

Longest parts are placed first in non-overlapping free rectangles using a guillotine split. The planner prefers already-opened stock, then offcuts, then whole sheets. Material and thickness must match; grain-locked parts cannot rotate. This is a feasible heuristic, not a proof of minimum waste.

Check the numbers

Two 600 mm parts do not fit across 1,200 mm stock when a 3 mm separating kerf is required. Enough total area alone does not establish a feasible cutting layout.

Numbered cutting layouts, a stock pull list, unplaced-part checks and traceable reusable leftovers. The drawing, cut list, material plan and exports use the same entered measurements. Product geometry and purchase quantities are checked again when a project is saved.
