Before you begin
Have a business name, contact method, service area, logo or clear profile photo and three photographs you have permission to use. Platform screens and feature availability can change.
What this lesson covers
- Complete a profile with a clear offer and contact route.
- Prepare and preview one useful business post.
- Route relevant messages into a structured customer enquiry.
Recommended preparation
01 / Key concepts
How it works
Your social profile should help a potential buyer answer three questions: what do you make, can you serve me, and how do I ask? Start with one manageable channel. A clear profile and a reliable response routine are more useful than opening several accounts you cannot maintain.
- Call to action
- The one next step you invite the reader to take.
- Business inbox
- The place where a business receives and manages customer messages and comments.
1. Complete the business profile
Create or update the appropriate business presence using the platform's current setup guidance. Use the same real business name and recognizable image across your customer-facing pages. State your product focus, actual service area, contact method and response expectations. Example bio: Custom oak shelves and small furniture in [service area]. Send dimensions and a photo for a project discussion. Only state services you actually provide.
2. Use the platform's business tools
Meta Business Suite supports creating and scheduling content for Facebook and Instagram, with inbox and performance tools. Use its current account-connection guidance for accounts you manage. Give helpers the minimum available role needed instead of sharing your password. This lesson explains external platform use; WoodWorkCalc does not publish posts or connect your social accounts automatically.

3. Create a test post
In Meta Business Suite, choose Create post, select the destination account and add an actual project photograph with a short description. Preview the crop and text. State the material, size or customer problem, then one next step such as message us with your dimensions. Save a draft or choose an appropriate publishing time. Confirm the destination before publishing and test the contact link yourself.

4. Set a response routine
Choose times you can check enquiries consistently. Acknowledge the request, gather missing scope information and agree the next step. Copy only the necessary, agreed project details into your customer record. Use platform insights to understand activity, but reconcile enquiries with quotes and completed work before deciding that the account is producing useful business.

02 / Worked example
A shelf post becomes a useful enquiry
Illustrative workflow: the maker shares a finished shelf with permission, then receives a message asking about a similar item. No account connection or publication happens through this lesson.
| Stage | What the buyer sees | Shop action |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Shelf focus, service area and contact method | Confirm all details are accurate |
| Post | Real shelf, dimensions, finish and one next step | Preview the image crop and wording |
| Message | A request for a similar item | Ask dimensions, location, finish and timing |
| Qualified enquiry | Agreed next step | Create customer details, then price the work |
03 / Business exercise
Apply the method
Use your own shop information or the illustrative scenario. Prepare drafts and check assumptions before making purchases, publishing posts or contacting customers.
- Write your profile description and verify its contact route.
- Check the platform's current business setup and account-access instructions.
- Prepare one draft post with a real photo, clear offer and single next step.
- Preview it on your phone and rehearse the enquiry response before publishing anything.
Common mistakes
- Using a personal password as a team-access method.
- Publishing a post with an untested or missing contact route.
- Promising an integration or service your business does not provide.
Take it further
Ask someone unfamiliar with your shop to read the profile and explain what you sell and how they would enquire. Revise any point they cannot answer.
Business action checklist
Record your evidence and next decision as you work through each action.
- Write your profile description and verify its contact route.
- Check the platform's current business setup and account-access instructions.
- Prepare one draft post with a real photo, clear offer and single next step.

04 / Review questions
Review the key decisions
Consider each question, then compare your answer with the explanation. Return to the worked example whenever you need it.
