Layer-based laser work is easier to diagnose and repeat. Separating operations makes it clear which setting creates each mark and helps you prevent a cutting pass from being confused with a light engraving pass.

Separate operations by intent
Engraving, scoring, cutting, and marking usually need different settings. Assign each purpose a clear layer name so a future you can understand the file without guessing.
Test the deepest or most critical operation first
A through-cut or deep mark creates the highest risk of waste. Test the critical setting on matching scrap before you run a large design or a client piece.
Use a sequence that protects the part
The best order depends on the material, project, and holding method. Plan so the material remains stable and the final operation does not create unnecessary movement or damage.

- Verify every layer is enabled or disabled intentionally.
